We are teaming up with UNCF to increase school choice and close achievement gaps for Black students. Overall, Black students are achieving significantly higher results in charter schools than in traditional district schools – yet we have nowhere near enough charter schools to meet the demand of our communities. To address this need and support our goal of creating 150,000 new classroom seats, we’re teaming up with UNCF on a new $10 million initiative that will build upon their work with America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities to start new high-quality public charter schools in the South and recruit more Black teachers and principals.
