Michael R. Bloomberg announced a $25 million donation through Bloomberg Philanthropies to end polio globally. The donation, Bloomberg’s second contribution to polio eradication, will support the work of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) – a partnership spearheaded by the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Rotary International, as well as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The endowment will support and name the Museum’s Education Division the William and Charlotte Bloomberg Science Education Center in honor of Michael Bloomberg and Marjorie Tiven’s parents.

Through a grant to the Relationship Coffee Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the livelihoods of rural Rwandan women coffee farmers through training and market access, more women will be able to benefit and participate in Africa’s economic growth.
