Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative Announces Fourth Class of Mayors to Go Back to School

The Bloomberg Harvard City Leadership Initiative announced its fourth class of mayors. Forty mayors from across the U.S. were selected to participate in the program, designed to equip mayors with the leadership and management tools to tackle complex challenges in their cities and improve the quality of life of their citizens. With mayors playing a central role in driving social and economic recovery from the COVID-19 crisis, this year’s program will focus on the skills required to respond to emerging challenges with an emphasis on equity.

The Bloomberg Philanthropies COVID-19 Global Response Initiative is not only supporting these countries in their efforts to contain COVID-19 within their borders, it is also investing in building public health systems to better respond to epidemics that will likely occur in the future.

College Bridge Program, Providing College Transition Support Over Summer, Will Expand to Reach Every Graduating NYC Public High Schooler

College Bridge, an innovative program that helps New York City public high schoolers overcome the “summer melt” and make a successful transition to college, will expand this year to reach every 2020 graduating senior as a direct result of a $877,000 grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies. An additional $250,000 grant from The Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation will provide support for the program’s summer and fall terms.

Bloomberg Philanthropies COVID-19 Local Response Initiative Announces New Investment in Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund

Bloomberg Philanthropies announced its commitment to continue support for the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund), a national nonprofit organization that partners with local governments to deliver financial empowerment services for low- and moderate-income families. The CFE Fund provides funding and technical assistance to mayors and their teams to develop, launch, replicate, and test financial empowerment strategies and embed them into the local government infrastructure.
