Israeli mayors up their game with leadership training

The Bloomberg-Sagol Center for City Leadership welcomed its first class of 20 mayors and municipal heads from across Israel last month. The local leaders kicked off an intensive, yearlong training that will equip them with tools and skills to deliver better and more equitable public services to residents, promote social and civic bonds, and plug into Bloomberg Philanthropies’ global network of innovative city leaders.

U.S. mayors get ready to leverage new transportation grants

As part of a set of supports for U.S. cities and towns called the Local Infrastructure Hub, Bloomberg Philanthropies convened nearly 200 mayors and local leaders to discuss how to address these problems and more with funding from the $1 trillion Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. They heard from key Biden administration officials about how to win grants from a new federal program aimed at upgrading transportation systems. And they learned how three mayors from very different U.S. cities and towns are angling for the money.
