Bloomberg Philanthropies Sponsors 31st Sao Paulo Bienal Mobile App
Bienal visitors can see all exhibits via smartphones and tablets
Sao Paulo – Visitors to the 31st Sao Paulo Bienal, the world’s second largest art show, can access all the arts works and projects exhibited in the event via their mobile devices, thanks to an application sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies available today at http://app.31bienal.org.br/.
The Bloomberg Bienal App will provide a comprehensive guide to works on display in Sao Paulo starting September 6th. The digital platform will give visitors the event’s agenda, a comprehensive guide to the most important art pieces, exclusive information on the featured artists, and the text from the curators that appear on the walls with maps and photos. It will also create a special channel of dialogue with the public by integrating with social networks.

This project allows us to share our love of technology, art, and transparency with the people of Brazil,” said Michael R. In addition to the app, Bloomberg Philanthropies is supporting the Bienal’s Education Program, which provides training for teachers, workshops and guided tours during the art shows and classroom and distance courses. Bloomberg Philanthropies will also fund the iterant exhibitions of the 31st Bienal, selected artworks that will be accessible to the public in 10 to 15 Brazilian cities. These shows increase public access to art and culture in cities where such exhibitions are not so frequent, helping make art and education more accessible to the public.
About the 31st Sao Paulo Biennial
The event, considered the world’s second largest art show, will take place in Sao Paulo/Brazil, from September 6th to December 8th, 2014. This show was developed by a curatorial team composed by British curator Charles Esche and Galit Eilat, Nuria Enguita Mayo, Pablo Lafuente and Oren Sagiv, in cooperation with an extended team that includes the permanent staff of Fundação Bienal.
