C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group

Cities account for 70% of all greenhouse gas emissions. They’re also home to more than half of the world’s people – a number expected to rise to more than two-thirds by 2050. The concentration of people and emissions means cities have the power to make a huge difference in fighting climate change, which is good for the health of their residents and their economy. Mayors are leading the way to protect people and prevent the worst impacts of climate change.

The C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, which Mike Bloomberg serves as president of the board, is a network of nearly 100 of the world’s largest cities, representing more than 650 million people, to share knowledge and collaborate on efforts to fight climate change. Together, C40 cities are sharing best practices and strategies on programs like bus electrification, reporting climate actions in a standardized, measurable, and consistent way, and releasing coordinated research on the critical importance of city climate efforts.
