Tune-in this Saturday at 8pm ET: “Global Goal: Unite for our Future—The Concert,” Uniting the World to Combat COVID-19

This Saturday, the world will come together virtually for Global Citizen’s “Global Goal: Unite for our Future – The Concert.” Bloomberg Philanthropies is proudly supporting the global broadcast and campaign which encourages everyone to make commitments to help combat the disproportionate impact of COVID-19 on marginalized communities around the world, including people of color, those living in extreme poverty, and others facing discrimination.

Bloomberg TV, along with other television, radio and streaming services around the world, will air the special live on Saturday, June 27th at 8:00 PM/ET. The special will include celebrities, artists, government and business leaders, and activists in a global celebration of the innovators, scientists, health workers, activists, and organizations working to develop and distribute COVID-19 tests, treatments, and vaccines to everyone, everywhere who needs them.

Hosted by Dwayne Johnson and co-hosted by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, the concert will feature performances from Chloe x Halle, Christine and the Queens, Coldplay, For Love Choir, J Balvin, Jennifer Hudson, J’Nai Bridges with Gustavo Dudamel, Los Angeles Philharmonic & YOLA (Youth Orchestra Los Angeles), Justin Bieber and Quavo, Lin-Manuel Miranda and select members of the Original Broadway Production of HAMILTON with Jimmy Fallon & The Roots, Miley Cyrus, Shakira, Usher and Yemi Alade. It will also include appearances from Antoni Porowski, Billy Porter, Charlize Theron, Chris Rock, David Beckham, Derrick Johnson, Diane Kruger, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Jackman, Ken Jeong, Kerry Washington, Naomi Campbell, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Olivia Colman, Opal Tometi, Salma Hayek Pinault and more.

This Saturday’s concert is in support of The Global Goal: Unite for our Future campaign, supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, which focuses on addressing the pandemic’s impact on the most vulnerable and seeks to build back communities and economies with freedom and justice for all. Through the campaign, individuals, governments, corporate leaders, and philanthropists are asked to take action and to make their commitments toward the fair distribution of COVID-19 tools and treatments so that no one is left behind in this pandemic.

In April, Bloomberg Philanthropies again partnered with Global Citizen to support the “One World: Together at Home Initiative” including a commitment of $8 million to the World Health Organization (WHO) Solidarity Response Fund. That funding directly supports providing health care workers across the globe with protective equipment like masks and gloves, and getting them the necessary information and training to detect and treat affected patients. The funding also helps with efforts to track and study the spread of the virus, accelerate the development of treatments, vaccines, and tests, and produce guidance on measures that the general public should take to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Michael Bloomberg’s support is part of the Bloomberg Philanthropies COVID-19 Response Initiatives which were launched in March to give public health professionals and local leaders around the world the tools to protect themselves and the public, and help mitigate the kind of economic and social damage that could make this crisis even more debilitating for families and communities.

To date, Bloomberg Philanthropies has given $331 million to help fight the virus and to support many of our partners who are facing unprecedented operating challenges.
